Heaven Sent dedicates first of five churches in India
Heaven Sent Ministries founder says the mission works to help those with little hope. A May 1 14 trip to India built a $5,000 church in Baktharahalli near Bangalore seating 200 with 80 children on the floor. The team served 1,000 meals, plus two clinics aiding 500 people. Fifty youths joined the faith, and a second church fund drive was announced for Nadupinayakanahalli. A later Nicaragua trip aimed to raise $2,000 for food and a church, while plans grow for a Mercy Center distribution hub in Mercer County.

Stonestreet wins National Honor Society scholarship at BHS
Bluefield High School senior Bryan Stonestreet earned a $1000 National Honor Society scholarship from NASSP among 200 winners. He is active as Student Council vice president, captain of soccer and tennis, editor of the school paper, Rotary exchange student, investment club founder, and community volunteer. He plans to attend Davidson College to study pre med and play varsity tennis.

The Brooks Bird Club Inc will hold its 2000 foray at Concord College Athens June 9 to 17. The eight or nine day camp studies bird populations and breeding habits, with field trips to Pipestem, Bluestone and other areas, and will publish findings in The Redstart.
