Double Wedding at First Christian Church

A Sunday double wedding united Miss Lucille Love of Cadiz and Mr. William Milner of Dayton, with Mira Dorothy Cope of Cadiz and Mr. Francis Bethel of Flushine. The Rev. Ben S. Johnson presided as the church gothic decor featured peonies and rhododendrons. The brides wore tea rose bouquets and tan and Alice blue gowns, and both couples plan to reside in Ohio after a wedding trip.

Horticultural Tour Planned by West Virginia Extension

T. D. Gray of the extension horticultural division from Morgantown will lead a garden tour of Bluefield and nearby areas on June 23 under Bluefield Garden Club auspices. Miss Anna Boggs of Princeton assists as demonstration agent. Members and others will accompany Gray to visit various flower gardens, per Garden Club president (. A. Pearson).

Popular couple Reyburn Hale and Horace Sharitz wed at home

Miss Reyburn Hale and Professor Horace Buchanan Sharitz were married Monday at the bride’s mother's home on Wythe avenue in a quiet ceremony attended only by close family. Rev. Robert Camden officiated. The bride, a Beaver high school and Marshall college alumna, is a former Wade J junior high physical education director. Sharitz, son of Wytheville residents, earned degrees at Roanoke and Peabody and serves as registrar and physics teacher at Bluefield College. The couple plans a home in Bluefield after a brief trip and will attend Bluefield College commencement tonight.

At Trinity Methodist Church an evening service featured installation of Senior Epworth League officers by Rev. T. S. Hamilton. New officers include Brock Hamilton as president Elizabeth Taylor as vice president Ruth Brammer as treasurer Elizabeth Kersey as first department superintendent Pauline Brammer as second department superintendent Hazel Williams as third department superintendent Vivian Taylor as fourth department superintendent and Nita Caldwell as Epworth agent. Daleth Delphian chapter held its final meeting of the season with a picnic at Miss Pearle Brammer's cabin on Fast River mountain. About fourteen members attended after gathering at the YWCA, with Miss Geneva Fortner presiding and reports on Wagner's tetralogy presented by Mrs. Burgess, Miss Watts, and Miss Speiden. The next gathering is planned for September.

U D C Honors Confederate Veterans with Memorial Markers

At the Bluefield U D C meeting Mrs Reese T Bowen led in the absence of Mrs W A Thornhill. Markers were placed at J W Vawter in Maple Park and Harvey G White Thomas B Hawkins and W H Floyd in Walnut Grove. Flowers adorned graves and baskets will be sent to surviving veterans this week as dinners have been replaced by baskets due to aging veterans. Only five Confederate veterans remain in the area.
