Firefighters tackle long early morning blaze on vacant Bluefield house
Fire crews battled for over three and a half hours to extinguish a vacant South Mercer Street house fire in Bluefield, with flames pouring from windows as 4,000 to 6,000 gallons of water were used. The house owner was listed as Mrs. Pat Cromer. Police investigate the cause. Separately, a Tuesday fire on Princeton Avenue damaged a home owned by Jack L. Lewis, started by children with a cigarette lighter, with $400 in property damage and $200 in bedding losses.
