Parkersburg West Virginia January 30 Officers arresting a middle aged woman on an insanity warrant found the body of her elderly mother in a trash filled room. Coroner Dr Richard W Corbitt said the victim Mrs Mary A Westfall 70 to 80 years old had been dead about 24 hours. The discovery closed a case likened to the Collyer brothers. Sheriff W C Cochran said neighbors had filed for an insanity warrant after seeing the daughter Gertha Westfall 35 to 40 rifling through garbage. Police forced entry and found the mother sitting before a small gas fire surrounded by trash with a coat over her shoulders. Corbitt indicated death by freezing as the fire could not keep her alive in sub freezings. The house was described as extremely filthy and cluttered with trash and furniture making entry difficult.
