A boy was struck by an approaching engine near Mir Bb0 Park Street while a locomotive backed away. Witnesses report the helper shouted to attract the boy but he did not notice the engine in time. He suffered head injuries and was taken to a field ganitarium for treatment.
Mrs C A Woods 21 mother of George Woods 217 Lee Street night dispatcher for Norfolk and Western railway died at home in Ashland Ky. She had been invalid for ten years after a broken hip, husband died forty years ago. Surviving children include George, Charles, Wiley, Marion, Jim, and Andy Woods. daughter Mrs H Powers died in 1988. A niece Mrs Hiram Tingler travels from Pocahontas to attend funeral.

The DOJ, which had paused adding the Mercer jail for federal inmates, seeks to compel responses why they should not be held in contempt. Mullins remains fugitive. Albert surrendered. Hearing set for Bluefield term beginning January 16.

William Peery aged 68 of Switchback died at his son's home from heart trouble after ten months of illness. He lived in Bluefield fifteen years and is survived by seven sons and several daughters including C M Peery and L W Peery of Switchback, and Mrs Richard Moore of Oxford New Jersey. a brother A S Peery of Bluefield. Funeral Sunday at 1 p.m. at Wheeling Avenue Baptist Church, with burial at Maya Chapel cemetery in Witten’s Mill. The Rev T J Peters will officiate.
