Fayette documents renew 1996 Babcock murder case
Fayette County documents reopen the 1996 bludgeoning death of Cheryl Flippo in Babcock State Park and the husband Rev. James Michael Flippo’s bid for a new trial. The case centers on an alleged illegal briefcase search and possible motives from an extramarital relationship or a $100,000 life insurance policy. Both sides were ordered to file briefs within 45 days of a December ruling with further fact findings to follow.
