Roanoke Girl Among Victims In Weekend Car Crash

A head on collision on a rural highway near Roanoke Sunday afternoon left Grace Cooper, 15, of Rocky Mount, severely injured and others with varying injuries. Misa Cooper and two companions escaped major harm. all were returning from Grundy on a weekend pleasure trip toward Lebanon. The Roanoke girl, later identified, was treated at Bluefield sanitarium where physicians predicted recovery.

Turbulent West Virginia senate scenes disrupt holiday recess

Two Local Men to Face Charges After City Violent Outbursts

Edwin Campbell and Arthur Blevins, both colored men, were jailed in Marcat county awaiting hearings on felonious assault charges. Campbell is accused of shooting Jack Williams with a 410 shotgun, Blevins charged with stabbing B Johnson. Both incidents occurred about 1:30 and 4:00 Sunday morning in separate city sections. Police are pursuing a mother up both altercations as they assess condition of the suspects described as serious.

Snatched Pocketbook Found in Vacant Lot

A pocketbook stolen from Mira Florence Henritze of 116 Summerd street was found Sunday afternoon in a vacant lot on Gilea street by a neighborhood boy. Mrs Henritze told police nothing was missing except two dollars. The purse was taken by a white man as she walked on Summerg street earlier in the evening.

Gunmen kill Brooklyn tavern proprietor at Cave

Legislators in Auto Accidents Near Droop Mountain

In Charleston on December 18 two lawmakers were involved in separate collisions. House Speaker Hinar and Mrs. Hiner escaped injury after a crash on the Droop Mountain highway in Pocahontas County, their car damaged. Senator Hodges of Monongalia, en route to a senate meeting, struck a boy who ran into the road. the youth Raymond Willig, 16, of Charleston, was taken to a hospital but found uninjured.

Postal receipts rise in early December in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh officials report a 13 percent increase in postal receipts for the first two weeks of December compared with the same period last year. The year to date total is 943,276 dollars, up 41,006 dollars from the previous year.

Fishermen Adrift on Atlantic Rescued

Four Boston fishermen from Gloucester ship Dilan G Marshall were rescued after two nights at sea in an open boat.
