Baltimore dispatch: 61 year old tavern keeper Eugene McNeal killed his mother and daughter with a pistol, nearly decapitated his wife with an axe, wounded a policeman, then shot himself. The tavern sign read Closed Sickness as police called the act madness.
In Melbourne Florida sheriff reports blood spots on shoes of Philip Van Eeghen, husband of Patricia Van Eeghen and father of Phylis, as investigators hold him in Brevard County jail. Bodies found in car with Blake details. Patricia died from three blows, daughter Phylis struck once.
A truck laden with five tons of dynamite slid into a crowded Rome street car yesterday. Police said a catastrophe was avoided as both vehicles were moving slowly. Two passengers on the street car suffered minor bruises and both vehicles sustained slight damage.
A 51-year-old McDowell County man Benjaman Earl Franklin was found dead along 300 feet of the Norfolk and Western mainline in Wilmore near Route 52. Police believe he died Saturday around 6 pm, with trains likely passing over the body. Funeral services are set at Saeger Memorial Church with burial in Saeger Memorial Cemetery.
In East Berlin two American soldiers Pvt. Richard L. Calbert and Pvt. Willie J. Holden were released after being held since Wednesday on a charge of beating a cabaret actor. Soviet officials avoided discussing East German sovereignty and emphasized the men misbehaved. The release followed four powers talks and the soldiers remain in administrative custody in the American sector.

The car carrying the victims was struck by a tractor trailer after hitting another car. Names were not immediately identified. A license found on an unconscious driver bore the name Warren G Bowman Martinsburg West Virginia.

The brother witnessed the event. The body was taken to Fanning Funeral Home in Sueger. The victim is survived by a wife, three daughters and four sons.
Lonnie Stevenson claimed a bullet would grow chest hair as he showed a shoulder wound at Bluefield Sanitarium. He fled the scene before doctors could operate, after an altercation at a Freeman acquaintance's home. The victim cited a .25-20 caliber gun but named no suspect.
Two masked assailants armed with a revolver and a pipe held jeweler Joseph Fodor and wife Nellie captive for about 12 hours in Aurora Illinois. They plundered the shop of about 55000 in jewelry plus 400 in cash and several personal items before fleeing.
United Fuel Gas Co. plans a nine mile pipeline from its Point Pleasant facilities to the Celanese Corp. plant at Gallipolis Ferry. The $325,000 line should be completed by next March, according to president John W. Partridge. The Celanese plant sits on a 412 acre site along the Ohio River eight miles upriver from Point Pleasant.
