Fire destroys two Kimball houses leaves 14 homeless
At 3 a m in Norwood Kimball two four room houses burned to ashes. No one hurt though belongings were lost and damage is around 5000 dollars. The blaze started from an overheated stove and was kept from spreading by local firefighters after nearly two hours of effort.

The double funeral for D Smith Sellers 98 and Nina Sellers 75 of Pocahontas will be at Pocahontas Baptist church at 2 PM with interment in Pocahontas cemetery. Nina died after returning to her flaming cottage to free her dog. D Smith died in Healing Springs. The couple left a sole survivor niece Mary Pierce of Watuga Tennessee.

Burly Prisoner Flees Jail In Pennsylvania
A six foot prisoner ripped a bar from his Cheltenham township jail cell beat two policemen and fled into Elkins Park where he was overpowered and recaptured. Police chief Theodore Hallo well and Sgt. Charles Lam born were in serious condition at Abington Memorial Hospital with possible skull fractures and facial lacerations. The prisoner, John E. Welsh, 35, a Negro mechanic, was held on a drunken driving charge. Police said he spattered the cell block with blood during the escape attempt.

Ex Bluefield Cop Found Dead In Virginia Trailer
Former Bluefield motorcycle policeman James Beverly Buchanan was found dead in a trailer at Amelia Virginia after hitching a ride between Baltimore and Washington. Police report a cerebral hemorrhage as the cause. Buchanan, now of Asbury New Jersey, is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Buchanan of 907 Albemarle Street.
