Discovery of Rayvans, second victim of Chester Comer, spurs a search for three more missing. Evans law partner Roscoe Arrington identified a body near here as his associate. A girl found bullet riddled near Kansas City Kansas was identified as Elizbeth Comer. Missing are L A Simpson, his son Warren, and Lucille Stevens Comer. Comer died after admitting he killed Evans and the Simpsons.
Rube Landis, 59, awaited grand jury action on a murder charge after Cecil Long, 27, a barber, was shot when he broke a window at Landis's Adrian beer parlor. Landis waived his preliminary hearing before Magistrate T B Drummond.
Jean Spencer, leader in the Short Creek community, is found guilty of open and notorious cohabitation with multiple wives. He faces up to three years in prison. Prosecutors denounce the religious defense as persecution while Spencer defends his faith and family life amid a statewide push to prosecute plural marriages.
Parkersburg, W. Va. prosecutor E. B Pennynacker filed murder charges against Forrest Miller, a taxicab driver, after doctors said George Vargo aged 35 died from three skull fractures. Inquest witnesses testified Miller and Vargo argued over taxi fare.
A yearlong drive against toy weapons spread to 60 Chicago area schools, burning 1900 toy guns and reducing local gun accidents by at least 600. Led by Mrs Rose Durso de Simone, the effort won support from Superintendent Hogan, judges, the crime prevention bureau, and Mayor La Guardia.
Forrest K. Wells, a blind mendicant musician, goes on the witness stand as defense hopes to avoid the electric chair for the murder of Helen Martin, 27, who plunged from a third story window in Beeton. A police stenographer read a confession implying he admitted throwing her and her dog. Wells claimed they were not married, and he wished to marry her.
Huntington West Virginia December 11 Two constables I H Totten and Thurman Rice faced charges of destruction of property after allegedly firing shots at an undertaker's car returning a Milton infant. The prosecutor said a grand jury probe will continue in February and will review another shooting claim involving a Catlettsburg Kentucky woman.
Bluefield prepares a radio driven Christmas fund raising program to aid 1600 underprivileged children. WHIS radio and local papers sponsor the Granada theater broadcast from 12 30 to 6 00 with a 70 voice choir and Beaver high school A Cappella group. Admission proceeds boost the fund aiming for 2000 dollars to supply toys candies and goodies.
Haile Selassie denounces Italian denials as audacious lies after bombs failed to explode at the American hospital in Dessye. He asserts Red Cross insignia were shown only on hospitals and tents and names Italian aviators as aware of the crime. Italian offensive toward Amba Alagi paused to fix supply lines for 150000 men, with 200 miles of roads to overhaul before the next move.
Washington December 11 Senator Borah Republican Idaho pressed strict American neutrality opposing the Franco British plan to end the East African war. He warned the scheme would elevate Mussolini and threaten the League of Nations by dismembering Ethiopia. A second unnamed senator blasted the plan as worse than the New Orleans slave market. January 6 will see a munitions inquiry into U S WWI funding with J P Morgan among witnesses as Congress anticipates a fierce neutrality debate next month. A munitions committee member backed mandatory neutrality legislation banning arms exports loans to belligerents and US ship travel on belligerent ships.
A Pittsburgh dispatch reports an injunction against coal operators over code tax collection. A mystery airplane sighting over western Pennsylvania follows the drone that prompted a tri state search. A couple from Pittsburgh was found safe in Richmond Virginia. Fog and snow hindered landing and identification of the craft. Police traced the drone near Monessen before it vanished.
London dispatch reports Japan urged a total tonnage limit for the three major powers, aiming to keep a fleet equal to the United States and Britain. Admiral Nagano argued for a common armament cap as low as possible, signaling a possible deadlock as Britain and the U.S. resist.
Eliot Ness 82, famed as head of the untouchables who targeted Al Capone, is named Cleveland's director of safety by Mayor Harold Burton. Ness, a University of Michigan law graduate, becomes the youngest person to run the department after nine years in federal service and a noted crackdown on Capone's beer syndicate.

Federal Judge John Paul granted a preliminary injunction shielding fourteen Virginia and West Virginia coal producers from the Guffey coal tax until the Supreme Court reviews the act. The ruling, entered in the name of Pocahontas Fuel Co Inc, blocks the 15 percent tax with a 90 percent rebate for code adherents and applies to eleven West Virginia firms and two Virginia petitioners. Dec 11 report says the administration will rest its Bankhead cotton control act defense on written briefs rather than resume oral argument.
