City To Help Fund Service Fees Case
About 14 West Virginia cities including Bluefield agreed to fund a defense against a likely lawsuit challenging fire protection service fees as unconstitutional. Bluefield's fee is 55 cents per $100 of assessed value, funding roughly 17 percent of city revenue. officials expect a suit may be filed and the Municipal League would defend as needed.
