Foreign fighters slip back into Iraq amid rising threat

Intelligence officials report a larger flow of foreign fighters into Iraq since August with October alone cited as a surge. Six top suspects linked to the Oct 31 Christian church attack are sought, five believed in Sunni border provinces near Syria, one in Syria. U.S. and Iraqi officials note a rise but deny a return to 2005 07 levels while Arab states fear Iran's influence. Foreign funds and aid to al Qaida in Iraq total in the billions since 2007, fueling insurgency as U.S. forces prepare to leave by 2011.
