The Bluefield High School Madrigal Choir adds its voices to the annual Pageant of Trees at the Bluefield Arts and Crafts Center. Twenty two decorated trees adorn the center with daily showings Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. Hopeful teachers flunking certification tests
Fewer than half of aspiring elementary and junior high teachers would pass the new state certification tests under panel cut-off scores. Medicaid Hospital Reaps Federal Match From Voluntary State Contributions
Bluefield Community Hospital officials said a Medicaid reimbursement check arrived last week made possible by a hospital voluntary contribution to cover state funds needed for federal matching dollars. Governor Arch Moore’s office said the funds would maximize federal Medicaid funding. The hospital nets about 200000 from the contribution, while the state owes its hospitals over 15 million. Officials predict further December payments could bring total near 17 million.
