250 000 Marchers Rally for Jobs Peace and Freedom

Mercer County Schools announce further $600000 deficit cuts

Mercer County School Superintendent Arthur W. Steller outlined a second round of cutbacks aimed at eliminating a general fund shortfall of slightly under $600,000 for the year ending June 30. Mercer County Education Association opposes budget cuts

The MCEA seven member executive committee announced they cannot support budget cuts or capricious personnel actions that harm instruction. Buchanan Men Accused of Murder in Narrowing Case

Four Buchanan County men Jimmy Justice Danny Chapman James Chapman and Jackie Ray Lester were charged with murder in the death of Larry Blankenship. Police say Blankenship, 31, was beaten and stabbed after a man was injured in the incident near a Pike County Kentucky tavern.
