US near target of 10000 Syrian refugees admits 2340 last month
The Obama administration appears set to meet its goal of admitting 10,000 Syrian refugees by year's end. State Department data show 2,340 arrived last month, bringing total for the year to about 7,900. Most arrivals are Sunni Muslims, with processing intensified to reach the target ahead of a UN summit on refugees.
