Sargant Hugh Whaley of Truck Co rg stationed at Ft. Benjamin Harrison visited his parents Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Whaley of Beech Creek township last Saturday the 13th. It was his first home visit in years after three years at the Michigan State Automobile School and enlisting in the Auto Truck Reserve Corps last May. He was sent to Fort Crook Nebraska Sept. 5 and later to Fort Benjamin Harrison where he awaits transport for duty.

Boy Injured in Automobile Accident Near Rampley Corner
Lawrence Clements of Newberry was badly cut on the leg after a collision near the Rampley corner three miles west of town. Peter Hasler of Elnora, driving several new cars from Indianapolis, attempted to pass and caused the crash when turning out of the road. Clements was transported to Newberry for medical care.

In a ten day Circuit Court span the impeachment trial of Lucien Jones, Stockton township trustee, dominated proceedings. The jury found Jones not guilty on charges of certifying false claims and bribery after a brief deliberation before Judge B F Wilson.

The Greene County Chapter of the American Red Cross held its annual meeting in the commissioners court room with Joe Moss presiding. The chapter reports almost three thousand members, a War Fund overage of 1500 dollars, six branches, soldiers supplies in progress, and new constitution adopted. Officers elected include Moss as chairman Shryer as vice president Beasley as secretary Haig as treasurer, with an executive committee consisting of Dr. E. K. Sherwood Fred Dyer and John Davidson.
