Busy weekend of visiting residents in Bloomfield area

A flurry of travelers and visitors reported in Bloomfield and surrounding townships. George Stalcup, Earl Brock, Logan Hatfield, Roscoe Baughn, Pauline Riley, Marie Riddle, Thomas Foster, Cap Cravens and family, Simon McDaniel, William Benham, and many others were noted in town. Attendees included Mrs. Perrin visiting Palestine, John Sexson on county business, Floyd Jackson from Bloomington, and more locals visiting relatives and attending events. The week also saw health board matters, jail recommitment notes, and preparations for a Product Show.

Ninth annual Second District Federation of Clubs convention set in Spencer

Bland Receives Gift at Linton Funeral Visit

Representative Bland, part of the Indiana delegation to Daniel Comstock’s funeral in Washington, was presented a gold mounted umbrella by the miners of local union No. 625 at a hotel in Linton on Sunday. The visit marked a stop in Bland's hometown after the funeral.

Farmer Found Dead Near Bloomfield After Rain

Christopher Quillen, a farmer living near Park four miles east of Bloomfield, was found dead in the barn lot yesterday evening about five. The body showed rain exposure. apoplexy was suspected after a postmortem check by undertaker Kidd, with no sign of lightning. The coroner investigated. survivors include a widow, three sons, and two daughters.

Bloomfield High School Holds Fortieth Commencement at Opera House

The 40th Bloomfield high school commencement was held Friday at the opera house. Dr. Charles H. Taylor gave the class address, with music by the school orchestra led by Miss Josephine Mackintosh. Diplomas were presented by Principal L. L. Martin to 21 graduates including Seeva Ellen Bauer and Joseph Chamberlin.

Jailbreak schemes and trials on docket in county court

The Saturday session ended with a hung jury in Arthur Ritter jail delivery case while William Hamilton faces trial on the same charge. Other inmates Ashcraft and Clark aided a break by bending a jail bar, with Clark recaptured next morning. Civil and criminal docket items include Vandeventer note suit and multiple verdicts. New cases include May v May and Goodwin v Bridwell on appeal.
