Local notes report Langworthy's ad in The Linton Normal renamed Ax tell s Hall. Obituaries record Worthington and Highland township deaths while births note a ten pound boy. Local politics cite Republican and Democrat nominees in Grant Wright townships. new postmaster at Tulip. New ventures include a cheese factory near Linton and a patent shaft holder ad. Bloomfield Normal opens June 9 and a vocal course begins March 17.
Owen C. Palmer, who eloped with Pearl Wolfe, was arrested at Newberry last Friday on kidnapping charges and jailed in Vincennes. Pearl says the forged license note was her doing and that she acted of her own will. Palmer dismisses the charges, claims a quick release, and his friends plan a compromise with the girl's mother.
After renewing their lease, Hert & Graham announce reorganized departments and lower expenses. They buy directly from manufacturers and offer deep discounts, special terms, and a wide boot and shoe selection plus clothing and fabrics from New York houses. The store invites customers to browse Greene County’s largest stock.
The Linton Normal will host students from every township in the county and from four counties and two states. Mrs. Geo Owers of Smith township died from heart disease after falling ill Monday evening. she leaves a two week old baby while her husband Mr. Overs fights lung fever. State Charities secretary Alexander Johnson visited the county poor asylum, praising upkeep but urging more bedding and better heating. recommends enlarging the orchard and notes Bullock’s qualifications for management.
Licenses to sell liquors less than a quart on premises were granted to Amos Musselman and others in Newberry Switz City Worthington. John G. Bullock to supervise the poor asylum for another year at 235 dollars. Price Simons appointed constable for Washington township. Frank Glover named election inspector for Beech Creek south precinct. 30 perches of jail stone to be sold with sale set for June 3. Columbus Hall inspector named for Jackson west precinct. County orders of 6617.8 cancelled against county funds and 153.36 against bridge funds. Six months interest coupons totaling 2400 cancelled. A special session on March 17 will decide disposal of the old iron bridge over White River.
The prohibitionists meet in mas convention at Bloomfield on Thursday April 3 1890 at 2 P.M. to nominate a county ticket and conduct other business. Public speaking at night with able speakers. A. F. Fox chairman Geo W Allen secretary.
Col Cavins confirms Laura Hindman married Mr Benjamin Dewing in Santa Monica on May 14 1889 and by February 20 of the following year she bore a child in Boston. The couple’s union is described as legal and legitimate with Laura returning to Bloomfield after the ceremony.

The list shows licenses issued to individuals including Wm. B. Miller to Minnie M. Archer Dalley C. Heaton to Martha E. Goen James R. Baker to Emma Baker and Jacob W. Heath to Lelia E Danley and notes these actions were taken by Clerk Ramsey.
James E. Lankford appeared before United States Commissioner Van Buren charged with stealing from the mails. He pleaded guilty and was held on a 500 dollar bond. His father William Lankford is Sandborn Knox County postmaster and the son worked in the office. An inspector used a decoy to trap him after weeks of missing letters.
Bloomfield Lodge No. 84 FP and AM adopted resolutions mourning Rev Allen Fuller who died February 28 1890. The brethren express sympathy to his widow and children and note his service to the church and community. A copy will be recorded and published in local papers.

The State of Indiana v Leander City stands trial for the killing of John Gilligan at Lyons on December 24. Jurors include Wim Ballard Freeman English Stephen Ellis David Hunter and others from Smith Township Fairplay Richland. Prosecutor Wm C Hultz deputy W L Slinkard. Defense by Moffett and Davis. Mrs Leach stenographer Sullivan records evidence. Hearing continues Friday afternoon. not as high profile as typical murder cases.
