Greene county Federated Clubs issue invitations for a Wednesday June twentieth picnic at Beasleys Park near Linton. Miss Helen Benbridge of Terre Haute will speak, with club presidents giving short talks about community projects and charity work across the county.
The Defense Board of Greene County met at the Court House this week and elected Dr J B Young of Worthington chairman and Mrs Bain of Linton secretary. The board pledges to aid residents during the war and improve home conditions.

Creature the band leader draws crowds, Gilbert and Sullivan operetta Mikado promises elaborate scenery, Ko-Ko role by Ed Andrews, and community singing led by trained directors will engage daily audiences. Professor Tomlins will coach leaders for summer sessions.
The board of trustees announces compulsory military training for all freshmen and sophomores starting September at Indiana University. At least three hours of training per week will be required.
In Vandalia, a temporary restraining order on pumping water into a ditch is continued as the court hears arguments over flow into Vandalia mines eight and nine. Ida Adkins wins a judgment on a claim against Cassassa estate. An assault affidavit is filed against John Terrell. The grand jury discharges after issuing over fifty indictments. New civil filings include divice from Joice Jackson and Grounds suit against Willard Grounds. Avenue venue change shields Eikenberry v Stannard from Monroe County.
One license to marry issued in past three days. Floyd Carrico a miner and Verna Goodman both of Linton were granted a license and wed in Bloomfield June 12 by Simon Lehman Justice of Peace.
Mr and Mrs D W Crockett of Indianapolis announce the marriage of their daughter Margaret to Dr Quinter Olen Gilbert of Ann Arbor Michigan. The ceremony will be at 8 PM Wednesday June 27 at Central Christian church Indianapolis with staid attendants and ushers listed.
Anna D. Slinkard of Greene County had a suit against the estate of her late husband John F. Slinkard. The case sought 5885 dollars deemed as her own cash advanced for settlement. Under terms of the settlement she receives 1500 dollars.
