Christmas programs were held across churches this weekend. The Baptist church hosted a volunteer-based Sunday morning program at Sunday school. the Christian church presented a mixed program Sunday night with strong choir music led by Mrs. Merritt Owen. the Methodist Sunday school offered a four o clock Monday afternoon show. the Presbyterian church staged Bethlehem a Christmas pageant Monday evening.

Despite prior discharges due to disability from an ear injury, he obtained a Washington pass to a physical exam, passed, and was assigned again, forfeiting his pension.

A U S marine bugler aboard a transport to Europe sounded taps at sea and was jailed for three days bread and water as punishment. The commanding officer called it a premature surrender to the tin lizzie of the sea, while the marine saw no humor in the act.

A Successful Red Cross Pie Supper at Crabbe School

A Red Cross pie supper at Crabbe school in Jackson township Saturday night December 22 drew a large crowd. Sixteen pies sold for twenty two dollars plus a pipe and tobacco lot raised over fifteen dollars. proceeds totaled around fifty dollars. All pupils joined Red Cross and many families contributed subscriptions for magazine memberships. Roy Wilson, the teacher, starts his second successful term at Crabbe school, a large rural school in eastern Greene county.
