Elmer Patrick city councilman of Jasonville with Mrs Grace Schwarbreck and Mrs Addie Passon were Injured when their auto struck a westbound S and W freight at Switz City crossing. Patrick saved occupants by flagging the train and all survived without fatalities.

New Cass Township Builds Modern School Facility
James L. Brown completed a 14000 dollar addition to the Newberry school in Cass township giving eleven classrooms a full basement gym and three entrances. The new high school wing houses a large assembly room five recitation rooms and science labs with future manual training and agricultural spaces planned. The gym occupies the entire basement with spectators balcony and separate dressing rooms boosting local athletics. The enrollment is the highest in the district and faculty has been strengthened with new teachers led by L V Phillips A B Indiana University Miss Oakey H Miles A B Franklin College and Margaret Brown. Cass township trustees John B Grooke and advisory board celebrate the advancement for the community.

Aged Highland Citizen Found Dead At Home
Winfield S Long of Highland township was found dead at his home last Tuesday noon by his grandson Lloyd Calvert. Born January 17 1848 he married Lucretia Pickard October 11 1870 and had four daughters. Survived by wife two daughters six grandchildren two great grandchildren and a foster son. Funeral and burial at Newark Wednesday.

Edward Fordyce learns his son was struck by falling slate at Vandalia mine No 20 last Monday. He was quickly notified and traveled to Linton. Authorities say the injury appears not serious.

High School Box Supper Funds Football Team
The high school held a Monday box supper to benefit the football boys, raising 39.00 dollars. Votes cost five cents each for four boy and girl cake winners, with Paul Edington winning the boys cake and Miss Esther Slinkard the girls. Miss Slinkard narrowly beat Miss Mildred Wymer by two votes. Cakes were made by domestic science students.
