Jonathan Sullivan aged resident of East Richland township died at his home last Saturday of paralysis and was buried Monday at Tulip. He leaves a widow and several children and was an uncle of deputy clerk George Sullivan of this place.
Mrs Harriett Hall Haywood wife of William Thomas Haywood died of tuberculosis at the family residence in Mineral City Saturday at 9 30 P M and was buried at the Smith cemetery in Taylor township Sunday at 2 oclock P M Besides her husband she is survived by two children Mrs Lillie Schrantz of this place and Harvey D Haywood whose home is in California and many other relatives and friends
Mrs. Alice M. Cowan of Highland township died Friday after a long tuberculosis illness. Born December 6 1867 in Guernsey County Ohio she moved to the area in 1868. She was twice married first to Charles Hoagland and then to Ephriam Cowan. Survived by her husband her daughter Pauline and siblings several. Funeral Sunday at Union Valley Church conducted by Rev Henry Flory with songs Vale of Beula and Will there be any Stars in My Crown.
Susan Emery born September 28 1835 died December 3 1916 at her son Harvey N Emery in Taylor township aged 81 years 2 months 5 days. daughter of Robert McWhirter pioneer of Greene County wife of Nathaniel Emery seven children named including Major Jonas A Emery Mary Jessie W Charles B Harvey N Lilly Rayburn and Robert Ambrose. husband died February 21 1909. Lived on a Taylor township farm since marriage devoted to family and neighbor assistance.

A quarrel at a Linton home last Tuesday evening led to Ad Osborn being arrested and placed under bond after an affidavit was filed in the Circuit Court. Osborn was brought to Bloomfield, while his wife stayed with her father John D. Blaker near Allen Chapel. Osborn's father Will Osborn, formerly of Camp Ground, is seriously ill with paralysis.
A lightning strike Monday destroyed a barn on Thomas Bogard's farm, four miles south of Bloomfield, with most contents including farming machinery harness corn and hay. Employee Dug Huffman was inside and was knocked to the floor. Livestock wagons and buggy were saved. The barn was insured and contents partially insured. Loss estimated at 3000 to 4000 dollars.
The Victrola contest ends with a tie between Miss Mabel Phillips of Bloomfield and Miss Oakley Shepherd of Fairplay township after both correctly guessing 195 townships. Mrs. Alice Mansfield guessed 192. In a tie the contestants choose their own method to decide the winner. Phillips and Shepherd will divide or decide the prize by agreement.
Levi Bauer announces Earl Hicks as deputy treasurer. Hicks has years of teaching experience and currently works for the Ray Wagon Co. He is a young married man described as sober industrious and well qualified for an efficient deputy. The choice is expected to be popular across parties.
A thunderstorm struck the Shiloh school building in Washington township causing damage to the cupola and metal lathing. The four room brick school, built for about $19,000, was insured and no injuries to teachers or students occurred as classes continued.

Gentry Bros. sold their dog and pony show to J. B Newman and Benjamin Austin of Memphis Tonn. Founded by H. B. Gentry thirty years earlier, the venture grew from a small act to a large circus traveling on two special trains. The show drew anticipation from children and adults across the entire circuit.
John Davis a Civil War veteran from near Sandborn suffered a stroke Sunday morning. The attack deranged his mind and fears are felt that it may prove fatal.

They attended a musical tea at Mrs Murray home and were invited to perform a program at the Rathburn Home for Old Ladies on Thanksgiving evening. Harrah sang at St Pauls Church and Trinity Church services.
