Electric Elevated Railroad Meets In St Paul

The Duluth pine land cases were called in St Paul and continued to the next term. Directors of the electric elevated railroad between St Paul and Minneapolis discussed Van Depeele system with Geo S Bowen, promising double track, standard gauge, cars ten minutes apart. Indictments for land frauds surfaced in Winona with names like Thos H Presnell Ed Lynch and Frank Burke.

Ten Men Drown In Lake Michigan During Storm

Oct 8 report describes a disastrous drowning of ten men employed on a new water tunnel project near Hyde Park, Chicago area. A platform cabin on Lake Michigan constructed above the crib broke away as the sea surged, leaving eight survivors clinging to timbers while rescue efforts by the Chicago lifesaving crew saved four more. Names of the drowned include Wm. H. Shahgnd, K. E. Corbin, Lewis, Andrew Ainsworth, Charles Mansi, Charles Folk, D. Smith, Otto Moncoiski, Wm. Moncoiski, and K. Clannon. bodies not yet recovered.
