Cyclone and heat wave sweep states in brief news

Democratic Territorial Convention in Session at Sioux Falls

The Democratic Territorial Convention assembled this afternoon with half the counties represented. Charles H. Price was named temporary chairman and E. B. Palmer temporary secretary. Committees on credentials and organization were appointed, and a recess taken. Also notes on Gettysburg battlefield planning and a bridge caisson accident near Elkton with seven men submerged and later rescued. Other items include weather, rail and local notices, and a few political and social briefs.

Bismarck Guards Sweep to Prize at Fargo Drill

A large crowd witnessed the Governor's Guard of Bismarck win the $75 prize in a competitive drill against Fargo companies. Judges praised Bismarck’s discipline and two soldiers, Flavin and McGechin, shared top marks with no clear winner. The event followed a grand firemen’s ball at the Fargo opera house and a stronger program planned for tomorrow.
