Terrific storm devastates Brownsville and Matamoras
Reports from Brownsville Texas and Matamoras across the Rio Grande describe a two day storm with extreme rainfall. Up to 26 inches of rain and near 100 mph winds caused hundreds of homes to collapse leaving hundreds homeless. In Brownsville over 200 houses fell and 300 families displaced. Matamoras suffered similar destruction with 300 houses leveled and many injured. Relief efforts are in progress as thousands face hardship with many destitute.
