Deputy Sheriff Shot in Richmond Over Married Woman
In Richmond Ky this afternoon Ballard Bronston shot and killed J Gilbert Dudley deputy sheriff at McKeena's saloon. Bronston, son of a tax collector, surrendered. The slaying stemmed from alleged intimacy between Dudley and Bronston's wife. Dudley had previously acted to levy furniture at Bronston's house and a buggy escort with a negro woman led to tensions. Dudley was dismissed from service after the incident.
