Taft wins all four delegates at large from Ohio as Chicago taps into the convention, with 22 districts voting solidly for him and no opposition noted. The result strengthens Taft’s slate ahead of the national convention in Chicago.
Ohio Republicans held primaries with Wil Ham Taft winning in most counties. No opposition worth mentioning emerged in Hardin or Knox, Taft delegates named in fifty-two counties with no contest. Foraker faction failed to field a ticket in Guyahoge, reducing total delegates. congressional primaries occurred across several districts.

Washington February 12 Acting Secretary Oliver announced the War Department has finally arranged to arm the organized militia of the country, 100,000 strong, with the new high power army rifle or musket. Buxton Hotel Burned in Buxton North Carolina on February 12, the Buxton hotel was destroyed by fire with about $10,000 loss and half that insured, workers saving much of the contents.
