Amateur Athletic Carnival Set for Tattersalls Chicago

The first amateur combined gymnastic and athletic carnival in the United States will be held March 6 at Tattersalls Chicago. Run by the University of Chicago with 2000 funding, contests feature 10 men from Illinois Minnesota Michigan Chicago Northwestern universities. A 110 by 200 feet hall hosts 70 yard straightaways and a 4 lap track. Prizes are handsome ribbons for both gymnastic and athletic events, with judges chosen from colleges outside the city.

Indian prisoner captured after Gordon murder

Gornox Wisconsin sheriff in Eau Claire Lakes captured quarterbreed Tu­dian Charles Beauregard for the September murder of Joseph Blackburn near Gordon. Blackburn, an old trader, was killed after refusing Beauregard whisky. A large crowd followed from the Indianware, but officers held the prisoner.

Disgusted Klondikers Return from Klondike Voyage

A Victoria, BC report says the steamer Noyo arrived from Skaguay with 25 disgusted passengers aboard after their Klondike experience.
