Funeral Held For Governor Briggs In Howard Lake
The funeral of Governor Frank A. Briggs of North Dakota was held in Howard Lake on Friday. The body arrived from Bismarck, lay in state at the city hall, and was buried at the cemetery after Masonic rites led by Grand Master Geo J Keyes. Local businesses closed and many attended despite no Minnesota officials being present.

Destitution in Alaska and Lostant party returns
D M Fisher of Lostant Illinois recounts the Pickens party from Lostant who traveled via Great Northern on February 4 to Copper River Alaska. They brought a large outfit including steam engines and a portable sawmill but found no gold and saw many disappointed seekers enticed by transport firms. Captain Abercrombie aided those lacking money, preventing actual starvation.
