Halsted Nomination Rejected by Senate in Germany Post

The senate rejected Murat Halsted's nomination as minister to Germany after a two hour executive session. Senate votes fell 25 to 19 against reconsidering the prior rejection. Robert T. Lincoln was confirmed as minister to England by the same 25 to 19 margin.

Wreck attempt on Pennsylvania limited near Canton

A 3 April report describes an attempted derailment of the Pennsylvania Limited No. 5 near Louisville Canton.
