Visiting bears stir up excitement in Yellowstone town
A yearling and a cub wandered into town near the city dump and Yellowstone. The cub was treed by dogs near the Lazy J Motel and later vanished after darting around the neighborhood and under a freight train. A yearling lingered near the high school as hunters note several adult bears killed nearby.

SGHS Homecoming Parade to Highlight Round Up Sheepherder Game
SGHS marks its sixth annual homecoming with a parade at 1 p m and a Round up Sheepherder football game at the athletic field Friday evening. Rural School Kids Visit Virginia City
Seventy eight rural seventh and eighth graders visited Virginia City on a Monday trip. Harold Braley drove the high school bus. 47 students went with supervision by Mollie Armstrong and a host of local teachers. Lunch was in the park followed by a talk by settler Jimmy Vanderbeck and tours of the museum shops and early Montana sites. Nevada City drew special interest with preserved history and period exhibits.

A California Oil Co. seismograph crew arrived in Big Timber this week. Twenty-five men are in the crew plus two locals. Twenty newcomers are married, most live in trailer houses, some stay in motels or apartments. Most children are under school age. Duration of location is unknown. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1941, served 1945 to 51, earned an LLB, and holds the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal and Unit Citation. Robert Cosgriff Dies Of Heart Attack In Sweet Grass County
Robert Cosgriff 66 a longtime Sweet Grass county resident died of a heart attack at home last Wednesday evening. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Big Timber Lutheran church with military rites by the American Legion. He served in World War I and was active in local soil conservation and draft boards. Survivors include his widow three sons a daughter five brothers and seven grandchildren. He was born August 19 1895 in Billings and married Kaia Lien in 1922.

Mrs Elda Martin Dies in Nebraska
Funeral services were held in Harlowton for Mrs. Elda Martin who died in Lincoln Nebraska after living with her daughter since her husband’s death in 1950. Interment followed in Harlowton cemetery. Survivors include two daughters Mrs John Wenstrand of Lincoln and Mrs F F Crockett of Big Timber two sons Armor Martin of Spokane and Carl Martin of Golden Colorado six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
