F C Alexander owner of the Silver Tip Bar in Big Timber suffered a stroke in the Absaroka wilderness last Thursday and was flown out by Air Force helicopter. He remained in serious condition at Community hospital, with reports Friday of slow improvement.
Dr Standish was airlifted by helicopter after landing difficulties in rugged terrain. Park County Sheriff Albert Nickelson flew over the camp by plane. Chuck drove Theo Thompson's truck out Saturday with Theo.

Norwin Eugene Schuey was fined $50 in justice court this week on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident. He struck a parked car belonging to Lloyd Shelhamer in front of the bank. license number was recorded before Schuey was arrested for drunk driving by Park County officials. He served a $150 fine in Livingston and returned to Big Timber. The Shelhamer car had only minor damage.
The Big Timber Rifle and Pistol club invites youths 12 and older to enroll in upcoming hunter safety courses at the indoor range. This is the last course before the general big game hunting season, with signups at the range on Wednesday evening, September 21.
Rev and Mrs Brent Barker and daughter Bernes visited Big Timber en route to Rocky Mountain College where Bernes attends orientation. The family previously lived here 1951 to 1957 at the Congregational church. Bernes holds multiple honors and scholarships while Lee is active in school and PF leadership.
Roy James McComas 53, a heavy equipment operator for the U S Bureau of Indian Affairs at Crow Agency, died Monday after a heart attack. He served in World War II and was a Big Timber American Legion member. Surviving wife, two stepdaughters, a stepson, his Grey Cliff mother, and brother Laurence. Funeral at 2 p m Thursday at Burggess Memorial Baptist Mission. burial at Custer Battlefield National Cemetery.
Ray Elgen, while on vacation from Gamble's duties, spends every minute with relatives constructing a new residence on their lots along Sixth Avenue East.
Condemnation for 72 acres of Alfred Nelson’s land along the Yellowstone river near Reed Point assigns a 45000 price by a three member commission. Nelson’s witnesses asked up to 65000 while the owner cites 50000 as fair value. Highway officials list 13135 as their figure amid view and grade concerns.
Rev and Mrs J D Lindley observed their 35th wedding anniversary with 125 guests at the EUB church. Attendants included family and out of town friends from Billings, Livingston, Bozeman, Missoula, Harlem and Denver. They were married Sept 9 1925 in Billings and have served as local EUB pastor since 1953.
Mr and Mrs Kenneth Plum of Livingston purchase Eddie's cafe from Gus Stenberg. The cafe had been closed for several months. The Plums are experienced restaurant operators with prior work in Great Falls and Spokane.
A state teachers institute for rural school teachers and administrators will meet at the Congregational church in Livingston. Grace Carney, county superintendent, chairs the program with Martha Haynes of Gallatin County Schools as program chair. Doris Reese of Eastern Montana College discusses language arts and study guides in the morning, followed by an illustrated geology lecture by E. R. Montagne of Montana State College.
Martha Tiny Nordby 23 died after a prolonged illness at the state school in Boulder. Daughter of the late John Nordby a forest service employee killed in a snow slide, she is survived by her mother Lena Nordby of Livingston. Mrs Nordby had joined Gilman Aller to Boise to care for the Aller children and planned to return to Boulder for funeral arrangements.
Sweet Grass county GOP women prepare cookies and coffee as the Republican caravan begins at the Legion hall Monday at 10. Orvin Flare leads the tour with James Battin Donald Nutter Tim Babcock Edna Hinman Albert Leuthold Bruce Sheldon and Dave Middivinas among the candidates. Tom Collins runs the tour from Missoula. Harriet Miller plans to join midweek after a State Board of Education meeting in Helena.
A constituting convention of the Billings conference of The American Lutheran church met at the Big Timber church on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Ocee Jonson presided as officers from circuit churches attended. Officers for two years include Peder Waldum chairman Orvin Bilstad vice chairman Reuben Johnson secretary and Jim Grunert treasurer. Reverend Johnson outlined church scope and stewardship duties.
The schedule lists games against Harlowton Livingston Columbus Roundup Lodge Grass Red Lodge Absarokee Forsyth with home and away dates from September 16 to November 4. Frosh games begin September 19 with jamborees on September 26 October 10 and 17 featuring Absarokee Jamoree and Columbus matchups.

Three youths from Moorhead Minnesota were captured after a 75 mph chase that started with a stolen car from Fargo North Dakota. The spree ended when the vehicle crashed into a ditch near a cemetery and the suspects fled on foot. Deputies, sheriff's deputies and a patrol officer pursued. a warning shot stopped them. The stolen 1958 Lincoln was recovered undamaged and the owner came to retrieve it as authorities prepared to return the youths to Fargo.
The Daily Courier-Mail in Brisbane notes the arrival of Mr and Mrs E C Lowe, son Dean and daughter Vonny from Big Timber Montana, ending a 6500 mile journey to Cairns. They seek a warmer climate and plan to stay if they like it, noting higher car prices and better restaurants in the US while enjoying Australia’s drier weather and greener countryside. The Lowe family were met by a New Settlers League member on arrival.
Jack Berg pleaded guilty in justice court to disturbing the peace tied to last week's incident. He was fined 200 dollars and given 90 days in jail with the sentence suspended. Cornelius Cremer forfeited a 150 dollar bond, Elbert Pederson fined 150 dollars and jailed 30 days with suspension, Emmett Gibson fined 150 dollars and jailed 90 days with suspension. The seven men shared damage costs to the car and the Negro’s broken glasses.
A large crowd of 250 attended a Farm Bureau women hosted talent show at Legion 1 hall last Thursday. Timmy Hathaway, eight, sang Red Sails in the Sunset and patriotic medleys. other acts ranged from piano solos to accordion duets and chalk drawings. prizes included 2 and 5 dollar awards with state and national contest implications.
Big Timber and Worden played to a 0-0 tie in a defensive opener. Worden's 55 yard interception return was negated by a holding penalty. Big Timber held Worden to two first downs while gaining nine. Big Timber travels to Harlton to face Engineers this week as 42 man squad lists.

C L Covington of Livingston will succeed Donald M Leuschen as assistant superintendent of the Montana Power company in the Bozeman Livingston division effective immediately. Leuschen moves to Glasgow as assistant superintendent in the Great Falls division. Lester E Ammondson of Great Falls will succeed Covington as division engineer in Livingston. Walter Russell moves from Gardiner and Yellowstone National Park to the Helena division as division engineer.
Miss Nancy Fifield daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Fifield wins top honors in the junior horsewoman division at the 1960 Wyoming State fair parades in Douglas Wyoming. She receives a trophy and is accompanied by her mother and grandmother as guests of the L W horse family.
Mrs. Stanley Hanson was elected president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Incoming officers include Mrs. Bill Matthew as first vice president and Mrs. Chas Nicholson as second vice president. Others are Mrs. Jim Schneider secretary, Mrs. Paul Nyre treasurer, Mrs. Art Olsen historian, and Mrs. Pearl Miller sergeant at arms. Program by Linda Yost and Raymie Jarrett featured accordion and steel guitar. Delegates Hallie Gunderson and Petaja will attend the fall district convention in Bozeman on Oct 9.
Citizens Bank reports recent calf sales by region with Hereford calves priced per hundredweight. Belt area lists 80 calves with 26c steers and 23c heifers for Oct deliveries. Cascade and Great Falls areas show similar pricing for good and choice mixed Herefords and heifer calves. Sweet Grass Hills and Wolf Creek entries note 22 to 27c steers and 22 to 23c heifers with Oct deliveries and shrink factors.
