The City Council approved a Nov. 1 start for new regulations ending resident access to the dump with a daily schedule 2 to 6 p.m. except Wednesdays and Sundays. New can standards limit cans to 33 gallons, 70 lb max, with lids handles and rack specs, banning cardboard boxes and requiring strong plastic bags.
Big Timber enforces a nightly curfew for youths under 12 at 10 p m and for ages 12 to 18 at 11 p m Sunday through Thursday with Friday and Saturday extending to 1 a m. Minors must be with a parent guardian or responsible adult or working a curfew related duty to be out after hours. Parents bear responsibility for violations and should remind their children of the law.
Local officials warn tunnels dug by youths south of town near Airport Hill could collapse. County Chairman Bjarne Bjordal notes hard sand traps air and a child buried beneath would have little chance to escape. He urges parents to supervise and keep children away from the hazardous sand bluffs.
Fire Chief Dennis Beer praised donations at a public hearing for a rural fire district. Donations this year total about $6,700, funding equipment and supplies as volunteers continue to fight fires without pay.
Congressman Marlenee will hold a Sunday hearing from 1 to 4 pm at the Grade School gym on S 1671 the Absaroka Beartooth wilderness. Local residents can attend informally with no registration and no written statements required.

City officials said restrictions will continue while the water situation improves. Lawn irrigation remains on an every other day schedule by house number and only from 6 to 10 a.m. and p.m. The town holding tank fills each day after 10 a.m. when irrigation ends.

The Buckaroosters arrive from across the country for the 30th annual stay at Norv Langworthy’s Buckaroost cabin and rehearse for a 8 p.m. benefit concert at SGHS gym. Donations support SGHS music scholarships with tickets at box office or local outlets.
