His wife died in 1890.

Sheridan County Wins Big Suit Over Stolen Money
In Great Falls on October 24 a federal jury awarded Sheridan County 21061 965.40 plus eight percent interest from Jan 1927 to Oct 24 1928 against National Surety of New York for losses from a robbery at the county treasurer’s Plentywood office. The trial spanned six days of testimony with the defense contending the robbery wasn’t proven. county officials testified to a cash reserve of about 48 000 and violations of bank deposit laws. The defense plans an appeal after a bill of exceptions. No trace of the robbers was found.
