GS Drive Has Good First Week At Big Timber
Three hundred labels were collected by Big Timber Girl Scouts in the first week of their drive to obtain free playground equipment for Big Timber Grade School. Two hundred seventy four labels were picked up at the school with the remainder in downtown store cans. Only 33 were Post cereal boxtops. The Campbell Soup offer closes March 15 giving five months to collect.

State funds reach Sweet Grass county schools
Sweet Grass County schools received 52 449 in state funds the first week of this month. The first payment of state equalization funds for the 1976 77 school year was made by Dolores Colburg superintendent of public instruction. The October payment of 17 394 820 represents 20 percent of the total annual equalization aid for the school year and is one of five payments this fiscal year. The remaining four payments will be January 30 February 28 March 30 and before June 30. Beginning this year each payment will be for 20 percent of the total yearly amount.

City Council Hears Grazing, Planning Board Date Set
The City Council met Monday with attorney James Tulley, agreeing to let a non grazing motion stand and to lease a cylinder from an abandoned well in the campgrounds. Council member Lois Bjorndal urged attendance at the City-County Planning Board public hearing on Oct. 26. The panel made no move on the Park Board and sought more information on Tulley’s status in a zoning invalidity matter. The grazing issue involved leasing land near the city dump. no action was taken. Next meeting is 7 p.m. Nov. 1, moved up half an hour.

The Big Timber seventh and eighth grade girls defeated Livingston at the high school gym on October 14. Seventh graders won 51 to 8 with Pedula leading scoring and Todd close behind. The eighth graders won 25 to 15 with Bergquist and Wagenaar pacing the scorers.
