Cole Drug Burglary Hits Local Store
The Cole Drug store was burglarized between Sept 30 and Oct 1. Thieves forced entry through a back door and used a hand cart to move a heavy safe to the alley behind nearby businesses. The safe was pried open and cash was taken while records were scrambled. narcotics and checks were not taken. Sheriff Kenneth Thompson and owner Bob Holderman initiated the investigation around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Henry Knapp Dies University professor in Illinois
Henry W. Knapp, 52, a professor at the University of Illinois at Charleston, died of a heart attack suffered September 18. A son of Mrs. C. W. Knapp and the late Charles Knapp, he taught at the University of Montana and spoke at Sweet Grass County high school commencements. Funeral services were held September 22 in Charleston. He is survived by his widow and six children.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Calkins 80 of Big Timber were held Tuesday at Creel-Garnett-Retz Chapel Lewistown with Rev. George Barnhart officiating. Interment followed at Lewistown City Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, two sisters, and five grandchildren. she was born October 29 1888 in Streator Illinois and moved to Montana in 1917.

John O Arthun 57 rancher of Butcher Creek died Saturday in Big Timber hospital. Born August 31 1912 he grew up on Butcher Creek and married Audrey Baken July 10 1938 in Red Lodge. Survivors include the widow his father Hermert Arthun Absarokee two daughters Mrs Majel Mack Laramie and Mrs Richard Trees Columbus Ga two sisters Mrs Ruby Brown Absarokee Mrs Cornelius Ostrum Rescoe and two grandchildren. Service Tuesday 1030 am from Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev Earl Erickson officiating. Burial in Rosebud cemetery.
