Montana closes hunts early in two regions and opens Madison elk season
Montana fish and game commission moved to end hunting in the south fork of the Flathead drainage at midnight November 10 after 800 elk were killed. A doe season in Ravalli County ends November 9. A special elk season in the Madison River drainage near Yellowstone runs November 9 through November 30.

Edward O'Dowd Services Held
Last rites for Edward David O'Dowd aged 75 who died Monday at the Nils T. Petersen home were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church at 10 this morning with Fr. P C Wolframski officiating. Rosary was said Wednesday evening and burial is at Mountain View. He had suffered a stroke two years earlier and had been cared for at the Petersen home by guardian Joe Spannring. Born February 7 1871 in Schobey Minnesota he had lived in Sweet Grass county since 1914 and once homesteaded near Melville. He is survived by a step mother two half brothers and three half sisters.

Death Claims Judson Post a Longtime Community Resident
Judson Allen Post, a respected local figure, died November 6 1946 at his Big Timber home from dropsy due to a long heart ailment. Funeral services were held at Lowry's chapel with an Eastern Star quartet singing Rock of Ages and God Be With You Til We Meet Again. Burial included Masonic rites. Born in Knox Maine October 28 1858 or 1860, he married Meniva Vining and had son Daniel Vining Post. The family settled in Big Timber in 1901 near the Yellowstone valley. His wife Myrna Post died November 16 1933. He remarried September 16 1939 to Marion Grace Budd. In attendance were Daniel Post from Berkeley California and Forrest Smart with son Donald from Harlowton. He is survived by his wife and son, plus two sisters Emma Gordon of Knox Maine and Melissa Post of Thorndike Maine.

Beating Fatality Shocks Arkansas Father Traumatically Kills Child
Three year old Linda Joyce Pollard of Red Hill community was beaten to death by her father Willard Pollard 25 during a nightmare at about 2 am Tuesday. Sheriff W T Matlock reported Pollard awoke and found his daughter dead with a skull fracture a dislocated hip and other injuries. The mother slept through the disturbance as the two slept in one room.

Mrs. Ben Lopez of Lamesa Texas delivered her 25th child Sunday the healthy baby weighed eight pounds and both mother and infant were reported fine. Attending physician Dr A H Smith said twelve of the 25 children are still living and two daughters in law were present at the birth.
