Operator Draws Term On Money Order Theft
Forsyth reports Judge G J Jeffries sentenced A C Wilson a 21 year old telegraph operator to three to seven years in the state penitentiary for embezzlement. Wilson pleaded guilty in district court after being arrested in Sheridan Wyoming following a disappearance from Ingomar with money orders and cash. He cashed orders for amounts from 23 to 250 and bought clothing and jewelry, and will be taken to Deer Lodge to begin serving soon.

Road and Bridge Improvement Contracts To Be Let
Helena, Nov. 3. Highway and bridge improvement contracts to be awarded by the state highway commission in November and December will consume nearly all unexpended lands under the 1927 and 1928 programs. The commission has awarded about 145 contracts totaling just over 6 million dollars, funded by the three cent gasoline tax and federal aid. The new mileage includes several costly bridges and about 593 miles of improvement with 30 miles of grading and surfacing.

Miles City sheriff and under sheriff captured two men at Powder River bridge after they forced taxi driver Tom Akins to take them east on the Yellowstone trail. Aviators here concluded that the Yankee, piloted by Capt. C. B. Collyer and Harry Tucke, was struck by a mountain down draft near a canyon. The fuel laden craft plummeted to the canyon wall after faltering from engine trouble, lowering altitude to about twenty feet before impact.

Berg Triumphs in County Judge Contest in Montana Election
In Stillwater County, Benjamin F. Berg of Columbus won the district judge race by a 43 vote margin as Miller lost countywide. Official county results show Berg 2 352 to Miller 2 075 with Stillwater and Sweet Grass contributions. President Hoover led with 1 164 votes and Dixon for U S senator had 996. Weather was ideal for voters and turnout included about 132 absentee ballots.
