Jacob Wagner Boulder Pioneer Dies After Long Illness
Jacob Wagner 85 a long time resident of this county died last Friday at his son's home following a lengthy illness. Rosary was said at Lowry chapel and funeral services were at St Josephs Catholic church with Rev P C Wolframski officiating. Burial was at Mountain View. He was born January 15 1862 in Johnsburg Wisconsin married Gertrude Haengen in 1889 and moved to Livingston then Big Timber where he bought a ranch. Surviving are five sons one sister two brothers 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Sweet Grass county showmen excel at Billings fat stock show with several first places. Leonard Mahlum won FFA hog showmanship, Don Tetlie led sheep showmanship, while Jo Ann Stole topped junior sheep in 4-H and Billy Fraser won junior calf. Vonnie Murray placed in senior calf and Angus judging. Gene Spilte bought Jean Duncan's 4-H calf for 34c weighing 1180 pounds. John G. Winant former ambassador to the court of St James died Monday night at age 58 from a self inflicted gunshot wound in his Concord home. Advisers Urge Partial Return of Wartime Controls

Robert Ryan Dies From Heart Attack While Deer Hunting
Robert Allen Ryan, 63, a long time county resident, died of a heart attack Tuesday while deer hunting on the Boulder near Bruffey ranch. He was found by son-in-law Ralph Ryan with gun across his knees after separating from Ralph and failing to meet him at a ridge. Dr. D Claiborn helped transport the body to Mountain View for burial following services at Evangelical United Brethren church Friday afternoon conducted by Rev H S Tool. Funeral next week.

Ranchers urge fishing hunting license hikes and bans on wilderness vehicles
At the 22nd annual convention in Bozeman the Dude Ranchers association urged the state to raise nonresident fishing licenses to 3.50 for 10 days and 10 for the season and to charge out of state hunters a 25 basic license plus 5 for antelope and 25 for grizzly bear mountain goat elk deer and moose. They also recommended banning automotive vehicles from wilderness areas except on established roads with jeeps and combat wagons cited as requiring regulation. One rancher recalled an amphibian sighting above Gibson dam and the skipper being denied permission to beach the craft.

In Billings on November 3 a fifth damages suit from an auto truck collision west of Big Timber on November 26, 1946 was filed in Yellowstone county court. Phillip Grosjean seeks 10500 against Arthur Nelson Leonard Nelson and H B Burleson, adding to prior actions totaling 145000 from estate administrator Leonard G Stoddard and Bernice Brannin seeking 16500.
