An Associated Press report cites two complaints in Livingston and Big Timber on election day. W. I. Sullivan and Harold Miosness allege electioneering near polling places, while authorities note no basis for claims and say posters near precincts were promptly removed.
Bible instructor Harold Dawson from Mt Ellis Academy led a group of students on Saturday to oversee the Sabbath school and church services. Among the participants was Lois Larson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Vernon Larson.
The Big Timber Woman's Club stages its annual children's play at the grade school gym with two showings at 3 and 8 p m Admission costs 20c for children and 50c for adults The cast includes Mrs Jerry Egeland Mrs Ray Collins Mrs Joe Helle Mrs Ed Bergquist Mrs John Alexander Mrs Chas Schuler and Mrs Nat Clark directed by Mrs Dudley Tyler and produced with Coach House Press This charming fantasy centers on the Queen's dilemma as the audience learns the little man's name Rumplestiltskin.
Home Demonstration clubs of Sweet Grass county sponsor a Friday evening talk on social security and other insurance topics. Ramon Sammons of Montana State College will explain social security as it relates to farmers and ranchers and their families. The event, open to all county residents, starts at 8 p.m. in the Dugout with the Trio club hosting refreshments afterward.
The Rev Haligowski writes of travel from Jerusalem to Italy via Rome, noting Mussolini era improvements, new roads and electricity, a modern airport, and comparisons to wartime camps. He praises Italy and contrasts it with Egypt and the war era. He remarks on Tuscan style hotels and airport services in Rome.
The Big Timber area marks American Education Week November 8 to 14 with open houses at Sweet Grass County High School and Big Timber Grade School. High School hosts an evening program at 7 30 with class sessions and reports. grade school events run November 12 13. Schools invite parents to observe and participate.
November designated as Hospital Guild Membership month. Dues remain 50 cents a year, payable to Mrs. Arlene Manley at Kellogg’s office. Funds support project needs, equipment, gifts to hospital staff, baby gifts, and loans for student nurses. The Guild plans to extend help to Sweet Grass County Rest Home and urges community participation.
The Sweet Grass TV club met at the Legion hall on Friday October 30. Directors’ minutes from January to June were read and a financial report showed several hundred dollars in the red. About 25 to 30 booster users have not paid for their TV, despite a 1963 assessment of five dollars.
George G. Lovelace 69 died unexpectedly at Community hospital from a stomach ailment after an operation last year. A native of Huron county Michigan he lived at Seee home in the raingrounds and later homesteaded near Miles City Montana before moving to Big Timber and Glendive. He left three daughters Mrs Virmie Mack and Bill Lovelace and six grandchildren. Funeral rites were held at Lowry Chapel with Rev. Ben Knopp. music included Safe in the Arms of Jesus and In the Garden.
Arnold Lee Peterson 19 son of Mr and Mrs Palmer Peterson of Reed Point was killed Tuesday morning when a large earth moving machine operated for Arkwright Construction Co slipped off the roadside on Highway 87 south of Roundup. He reportedly tried to jump as the machine began to overturn but could not free himself. He was a Reed Point High School graduate 1963 and had attended a heavy equipment school in Idaho. He had worked summers for Bud Deeney and lately on Reed Point and Roundup construction projects since March. He is survived by his parents one brother David of Helena two sisters Mrs Alvin Schott Grey Cliff and Mrs Robert Barnum Billings five aunts and five cousins. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 o clock at the Bub Church Reed Point with Rev Arvid Lindley officiating burial in the Reed Point Mountain View Cemetery.
Sheriff Thompson said Howard B. Coy, wanted on grand larceny charges, was apprehended in Oklahoma City. County Attorney Paulson will file extradition papers for his return within weeks. Coy allegedly borrowed Stanley Weamer’s car last August to go fishing and vanished. the arrest involved FBI cooperation on a charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Harlowton defeated Forsyth 13-0 to clinch a share of the Southern Division football championship. Project tied Red Lodge 19-20 after Red Lodge scored in the fourth, missing the conversion. Lodge Grass beat Roundup 18-12. Roundup had led the league earlier in the season.
A fall day drew a large multi state crowd to Fraser Hereford bull sale where FHR Canyon Mis Chief 32 sold for 1900 to American Breeder's Service Chicago. Armour Division Morris Illinois bought the second top bull at 1100. top 60 bulls averaged 704 and 100 lots overall 490 per head. A preceding Pitchfork ranch horse sale featured a sorrel filly bought by Mrs. Ruth Pierre Hampton MA for 875. overall sale average 428 per head.
James Ronald Larson twenty one died in an automobile crash on highway 10 nine miles west of Livingston Friday night. Passenger Joe Collins injured in the crash and in satisfactory condition at a Livingston hospital. Both men were thrown from the car and Larson was crushed when the vehicle rolled. Funeral services were held Monday at Lowry Chapel with Harold Dawsom officiating and interment at Mountain View.
4 H members leaders parents and friends from 44H will gather for Recognition Night at the Legion hall on Saturday at 7 30 p m. The program includes flag ceremonies group singing demonstrations pin awards and achievement honors plus a Lion's Club Plaque for outstanding 4H club. Square dancing led by Edgar Langston of Harlowton follows the awards. Arrangements are led by Mrs. John Yost Mrs. Irving Pollard and Mrs. Rasmus Boe.
