American Legion Post 19 plans Memorial Day events on Monday May 31 in Sweet Grass County with a downtown parade at 10 a.m. from the Cort Hotel and a Legion Hall program. Marchers to assemble by 9 45 a.m. Color guard firing squad members and students will lead the parade. A wreath laying at the cemetery and flowers dropped into the Yellowstone River will follow along with buglers and a Toastmasters address.
Montana Jaycee Convention in Great Falls May 21 23 includes Mr and Mrs Steve Johnson Mr and Mrs Rick Counter and Jerry Dempster. The Big Timber Jayceens won two awards at the banquet with Sally Renneberg as chair for Religious Christmas activities and Community Promotion and Development boat float breakfast.

Sweet Grass County High School qualified eight of nine boys at the divisional track meet in Billings last Thursday to compete in the state meet on May 28 and 29 in Billings. SGHS placed fourth with 24 points behind Huntley Project Manhattan and Roundup as 16 schools entered.

Mr and Mrs Robert Deegan of Central Park Washington presented the Big Timber Public school with a trophy honoring their son Mike Deegan who died in an accident last year. The first recipient is Jim Graham an 8th grade student and son of Mr and Mrs James Graham, to be named yearly by physical education directors.
