Murray Admits Guilt Then Hangs Himself
Salem Oregon May 10 Exonerating two pals sentenced to hang with him for the killing of two prison guards in a jail break Tom Murray bank robber and outlaw wrote a note asserting he and a dead convict were the murderers and hanged himself with a bed sheet in the Oregon state penitentiary last night. Murray was sentenced to hang Jan 8 but execution was postponed pending an appeal to the state supreme court. James Willos and Ellsworth Kelly were under sentence of death for the same murders. The three men and Bert Jones escaped from the penitentiary Aug 12 1925 by cutting through the roof and lowering themselves to the yard in front of the warden's office.

Byrd Flew Over the North Pole in 15 Hours
Lieutenant Richard E. Byrd, U.S. naval aviator, completed a solo flight over the North Pole in a three engine Fokker monoplane named Miss Josephine Ford. He departed from King's Bay Spitzbergen at 12 30 a m Greenwich time and landed at 4 20 p m after a 15 hour 50 minute journey. The return was greeted by King’s Bay residents and the crew of the Norge.

Helena Montana May 11 Hammill Bozeman was awarded the contract for a new cottage and school annex at the State Orphans Home Twin Bridges with plumbing and heating. Total bid slightly over 42000, about 86000 below the estimate. Budd Bozeman won the plumbing and heating bid at 6153. The board also directed completion of the Butte State School of Mines pool project at not more than 6000.

Washington May 11 The Haugen price stabilizer bill withstood first efforts to alter its provisions as the house considers farm relief. Helena May 10 All but two of the counties have qualified petitions for repeal of Montana prohibition laws. Silver Bow and Lewis and Clark counties circulate yet to complete quotas.
