Relatives report from the army air force that Jene W Carl has again received a plaque as best B-25 specialist in the western division. He served as trouble shooter at San Diego and San Antonio bases over the past year and is making a comeback from 15 months of hospital care for a back injury. Services Held For Bert Martin Pioneer of Montana

Funeral services were held Sunday at Perkins Chapel for Bert Martin 79 a longtime Montana settler who died Thursday at his Harlowton home. Born May 5 1871 in Red Bluff California he came to Montana at age ten with his father driving sheep into the Yellowstone valley. He married Elda Beardslee in 1896 and worked in the sheep business in Forsyth Carbon County before moving to Musselshell 32 years ago. He managed the Bair Co and Winnecock ranches until retiring in 1943. Survivors include his widow two daughters Mrs John Wendstrand Lincoln Nebraska and Mrs Free Crockett Harlowton two sons Armor Butte and Carl Whitehall six grandchildren a brother Chet Wheatland Wyoming and a sister Mrs Ada Thomas Billings.

Arrangements Set for Two Day Rifle Shoot Near Big Timber

Final plans announced for the Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club two day event at the range five miles north of town on highway 19. Registration Saturday 9 a.m. with shooting at 9:30, NRA rules observed. Events include junior matches for ages 12-18, pop-up bear shoot, and Sunday large bore contests at 200 yards with multiple prize categories and the Huidekoper cup trophy for Sweet Grass county shooters. Leo Ray Aims to Defend Huidekoper Trophy at Two Day Shoot

Liberty Bell Replica to Visit Big Timber

An exact Liberty bell replica will be shown in Big Timber on June 21 as part of the Independence Savings Bond campaign opening May 15. The campaign urges May 15 flag displays and bells tolling at noon to honor liberty and democracy. A capacity crowd attended the annual music and art festival at the grade school last Friday evening. Joel Story directed the grade school band with numbers by beginners and advanced players. Donna Hunter led the musical program featuring folk songs and student numbers. Mrs. Robert Papke directed the art display, decorations, and stage scenery in the auditorium.
