Herders Take Columbus Track Meet in Dual Meet Victory
The Herders scored 79 points to win the Columbus Invitational as Big Timber edged Columbus 79 to 50. Standout performances came from Bob Buster who set pace in the mile, Chuck Hauge in the high jump, and several others in sprints and field events as Coach Jim Graham reshuffled entries after MHSA rules. The team travels to Billings for the Western Sub-divisional meet with 39 contestants aiming for a divisional title.

SGHS Musicians Earn Top Ratings at State Festival
Five Sweet Grass High School musicians earned ratings at the Division 5 State Music Festival held Friday at Eastern Montana College in Billings. Chloe Vik piano solo superior Tim M away tenor solo superior Sweet Sixteen vocal ensemble superior Carol Gallentine soprano solo excellent. Six hundred students from 28 schools competed for ratings of superior excellent good fair or poor with certificates awarded to those rated superior or excellent.

Spokane Woman Injured In Rural Crash Near Grey Cliff
Spokane resident Joan L. Barron was hospitalized with a concussion after a Saturday 11:50 pm crash three and a half miles east of Grey Cliff. Her 1968 Mercury Cougar left the road, crossed, and overturned beside the railroad track. Patrolman Richard Henthorn investigated the wreck.

The Sweet Grass Wool Marketing Association disposed of 250000 pounds to Burlington Industries Wool Company Inc in Clarksville Virginia at the April 30 bid opening. Dane Draper represented Burlington. About 116 growers sold to the same company last year for 50.01. This year the price was 50.62.
