Big Timber Hosts 15th Annual Track Meet With Four Teams
Sunshine and light winds aided the April 30 meet at the new Big Timber track. Columbus led varsity scoring with 90 points, followed by Big Timber 70, Red Lodge 45, Harlowton 40, and Absarokee 24. Junior varsity saw SGHS win 94 points, Absarokee second with 62, Columbus third 49.

Boy Scout Troop 521 and Scout masters Thomas and Peterson staged a mock camp at the Dugout on Saturday May 1 to showcase five new 8 by 10 Coleman Olympics tents bought from donations by Big Timber Lions American Legion Post 19 Big Timber JayCees and per sonal gifts. Visitors saw log sawing pole lashing and packing gear while scouts like Dan McCauley Tim Rostad and Floyd Peterson helped set up and take down tents. one unit remains unpaid and donations are welcomed.

Larry Rehmer with 25 years in electrical work leads the new business at the former Red Barn location. He will be aided by his son Larry 18 as he relocates from Livingston Montana while housing is found for the family. Rehmer moved from Momence Illinois last October after a long electrical career and hunting and fishing drew him to the area. His three older sons Michael 29 Daniel 27 and Eric 22 stay in Illinois continuing in the electrical trade. The family plans to move to Montana with Larry wife Rena and the youngest son.

A survey by Frank Bigten of the Soil Conservation Service taken Saturday May 1 reports a record snow pack and high water content at Monument and Independence peaks. Monument depth 102.2 inches with 44.6 percent water, Independence 70.0 inches depth and 32.1 percent water. Last year’s figures were 62 and 26.6 at Monument and 48 and 18.1 at Independence. Accompanying Bigten were his wife Gloria daughter Shawneen and Mr and Mrs Dale Grosfield and Mr and Mrs Teddy Thompson.
