Alumni to stage rural play at Sweet Grass High

The Sweet Grass High Alumni prepare their second annual play Me and Otis to be performed at the Auditorium on Wednesday evening May 12. A rural drama filled with humor and dialect features a cast led by Dick Davie Byron Makepeace Thornton Otis Tewksbury Betty Tewksbury and others as they rehearse for a promised entertaining show.

Western land designated for 320 acre homesteads by Ballinger

Secretary Ballinger designated about 157 million acres across Oregon Washington Utah Wyoming New Mexico Nevada Arizona Colorado and Montana under the 320 acre homestead act. Entries will be opened with diagrams to local land offices and teachers to receive messages about Arbor Day materials and a tree vote amid discussions of state flowers and early voting.

Public schools to select state tree in Montana

Statewide Arbor Day will be marked by a student vote to choose a state tree. State Superintendent Harmon notified county superintendents in a circular. Last year a state flower vote produced poor turnout, prompting improved manuals on tree desirability and suitability.

Milwaukee Buys Large Ranch Near Melville 7600 Acres Sold

E O Clark and J W Bailey announce the sale of the 7 600 acre James Anderson ranch near Melville to the Milwaukee Land Company for about 35 600 60. The tract lies ten miles east of Melville on the Musselshell slope and includes plow land. Eighth Grade Examinations Schedule and Rules

The final eighth grade examination will be held May 20–21 in Big Timber and June 10–11 in Reed Point starting at 9 am. Subjects follow a set order with arithmetic spelling grammar reading literature history civics physiology geography. Pass mark is average 75 with no lower than 66 in any paper. eligible students must have completed state eighth grade work.

Opening of Flathead Reservation Draw to Registration

The Flathead Indian reservation will use the same drawing method as the Crew reservation opening. It is anticipated that 20 000 to 40 000 persons will seek registration for the drawing.
