Government to curb commercial construction for homes push
WARINGTON March 11 The government prepares a broad order to slash commercial and industrial construction to redirect materials to housing. Officials say thousands of nonessential stores offices and factories may be halted while roadhouses theaters and similar projects face scrutiny. The measure aims to channel over two thirds of building materials to residential use and limit higher priced homes.

Morley specialist first class was honorably discharged from the navy Feb. 8 at Bremerton personnel center after two years of active duty He enlisted Feb. 9, 1944 and served with a shore patrol unit at Astoria Oregon following training at Farragut Idaho and Jacksonville Fla Morley was accompanied to Livingston by his wife Adeline Ellison of Big Timber and infant daughter Linda Kay and will visit his parents before resuming civilian duties as a special agent for the Northern Pacific railroad at Helena

Doris Olinger daughter of Mr and Mrs Ross R Olinger of Big Timber and T 3 Kenneth Wright son of Earl Wright of McLeod were married last Thursday at the Evangelical parsonage by Rev H S Tool. Witnesses were the bride's parents. They left for Salt Lake City where Kenneth reports for re assignment on March 29. He has reen listed in the army and has asked for assignment to Germany. Mrs Wright plans to join him there within a couple of months.

Mrs Sophia Guthrie reports Dr and Mrs H C Roquet returned Friday from weeks in Indiana and Florida visiting relatives in Indianapolis Jacksonville and Key West with their son in law Gordon Cunniff now to reside in Great Falls May 1. Five hundred eighty three garments for war relief were shipped this week under Mrs L W Baskett. The Big Timber basketball team traveled to Billings for an independent tournament draw.

Stanley C. Phillips of Big Timber Montana spent late February aboard LST 512 in St. Petersburg Florida demonstrating Pacific warfare methods for Navy and Marine crews. He attended municipal band concerts at Williams Park and watched Yankees Cardinals practice at Waterfront Park. About 50 000 residents boarded the ship to view demonstrations by veteran crews.

Helena March 8 The Montana State Federation of Labor executive board declared strong opposition to a sales tax for any purpose. Leader James D. Services For Reed Point Woman
Mrs. William Ferguson died in Columbus hospital after weeks there. A service at 11 a m Saturday was held in the Evangelical church at Reed Point with Rev E J Schroeder officiating. A duet by Mrs Neumann and Mr E Schroeder sang. She lived on the ranch north of town and leaves two sons Floyd of Reed Point and Corbett of Laurel. Her body was taken to Bozeman to lie beside her husband who died last November. Pallbearers were Wayne Eder Bill Richards Jack Hornsby Robert Cunningham Harry Schmitt and Clarence Phipps.

About 136 people attended the annual FFA parents and sons banquet at Parish hall. Thomas Flanagan presided as president. Scott Hoskinson taught, with remarks by Principal Ralph S.
