State Fair At Helena Laid On Shelf For Two Year Period

The Montana legislature agreed to strike a $60,000 annual state fair appropriation from house bill 448 and set aside a $33,500 annual maintenance and caretaker grant for two years. Senator Church opposed the move, warning it would hurt Montana’s image and investments in the fair and related infrastructure. The prolonged session adjourns with mixed cuts and restored funding for several state offices, but the Helena State Fair is effectively canceled for two years.
