John Arthur, a pioneer rancher of the Big Elk country who settled there in 1881, died this week at his daughter Mrs. Catherine Shaw's home in New Harbor, Massachusetts. Funeral services were held in Harlowton yesterday with local attendees including Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell Mr. and Mrs. Co V O Leary and Charles McDonnell serving as pallbearer.

Perch Derby Set For July 9
The third annual perch derby sponsored by the Big Timber Rod and Gun club will be at Tower Glasston lake Sunday July 9. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. prizes total 100 dollars for the three heaviest perch and a top perch prize for a challenger woman. Tickets cost 1 dollar and refreshments will be on site.

Tjaaland Family Returns to 9000 Acre Montana Ranch
Mr and Mrs Herbert Tjaaland and their children ended a two week west coast tour and returned to their new 9000 acre ranch near White Sulphur Springs. Mrs Tjaaland and the children will stay in Big Timber until a house is found as there is no local school. They visited relatives in San Diego Yosemite and Aberdeen Washington and witnessed eight accidents en route but escaped unharmed.

Livingston Roundup Set for Week of Festivities in 1950
The Livingston Roundup opens Friday with a Torchlight parade led by Boy Scouts at 9 p.m. and a dance at the Elks home. The Kiddies parade follows Saturday noon, led by the Eagles Auxiliary in 12 floats depicting the year’s months. If enough entries come in, the All-Girl Rodeo could join the arena show Saturday night, otherwise canceled.

Red Cross Swim Courses Complete in Coeur d Alene
Recreation Director Roy Snyder and Larry Furstenberg completed a 10 day Red Cross aquatic course in life saving and swimming instruction in Coeur d Alene Idaho. Old Time Boulder Rancher Dies in Livingston
Math Kline a 73 year old Boulder rancher died unexpectedly Sunday evening at Lott hospital Livingston after a stroke at his Brackett creek ranch in Park county. He was born in Cedar Lake Indiana and lived on the Boulder ranch 46 years before moving to Brackett creek in 1947. He was married to Annie Rogers in Livingston in 1917 who died in 1949. Survivors include a brother William Kline and a sister Susie Stark plus several nieces and nephews. The funeral was at Franzen chapel and burial in Livingston Mountain View cemetery with Rev E E Tollefson officiating and music by Leone Orleman and Henry B Reilly. Pallbearers were Rudolph Egeland Harold Roe Stanley Phillips Charles Scott Ed Hanson and Dave Boyd.
