Anoka Minn Tornado Kills Ten. Massive Destruction
A June tornado swept 25 miles west and north of Anoka Minnesota killing ten people and injuring over sixty. It flattened farms and buildings in seven towns including Anoka Cedar and Champlain, with major damage in Anoka where about 40 to 50 houses were destroyed. Several residents, including Anna Freeman and H G Groat, died. many structures and a church were demolished.

In Anoka Minnesota a tornado ripped through the town, destroying sections as four locals including Bill Messner Lavonne his wife and Mr and Mrs Clarence Karkhoff watched from a Main Street buffet. A warning shout came as the roaring wind approached and the group hurried toward a basement but could not reach it before the storm struck a block away.

Atlantic Clipper Makes Highly Successful Transatlantic Trip
The Atlantic Clipper carried 18 reporters and 12 crew from New York to Lisbon in under 24 hours, covering 3477 miles at 152.4 mph. Capt Culbertson landed at 7:44 pm local time after a stop at Horta, Azores, with a 11 minute layover. The test flight preceded regular passenger service by 11 days.

Three Wyoming Men Die in Sheridan Area Crash
In Wyoming near Ucross thirty two miles east of Sheridan three Gillette men were killed and three others critically injured in a late night automobile crash. Victims named are Charles Brecker sixty Albert Brecker twenty seven and Francis Fox twenty seven. Driver James Payton and Paul Bowman were injured with Payton reported to have a broken neck and Bowman scalp injuries. Christine the sixth person was released from a Sheridan hospital.

Miss Ruth Anderson and Mgr. Lloyd Gordon Rein wed at the Lutheran church in Melville in a flowered setting with cedar boughs and tall tapers. Glendive State Bank to Liquidate After 30 Years
Glendive Montana June 16 the Glendive State Bank announces liquidation after nearly thirty years of operation. Vice president J P Shaffer says the decision was voluntary and the bank closed in good condition. Deposits are protected and will be paid dollar for dollar by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation at St Paul. The bank opened September 1, 1914, and remains the sole city Montana institution of its kind.

Chicago firm purchases highway debentures
The Montana highway commission sold 1.5 million dollars in debentures to Halsey, Stuart and Co. of Chicago. The bid carried 1.75 percent interest on 10-year bonds plus a 2250 dollar premium, reducing net rate to 1.73 percent the lowest ever for the commission. Proceeds fund matching federal highway funds for construction and improvement.

Columbus Girl Killed in Highway Tragedy
Doris Leggett a 14 year old Columbus resident died after being struck by a car driven by Jackson Howe of Great Falls while walking along a highway Friday afternoon. The car swerved after braking to avoid another vehicle, ejecting Leggett as Howe, uninjured, followed the Magelssen car to avoid collision. Leggett had just graduated eighth grade and is survived by her parents two brothers and three sisters.
